I am going to write a recount about my holiday.  This is the kind of writing you will be doing at the start of the year.  See if you can find the words that show that this is a recount.

On January 1 we packed up all our camping gear to go camping at Totaranui.  It took a long time as we were going away for three weeks.  We looked closely at the weather forecast to see what the weather was going to be because we did want the weather to be good when we put up our tent.

The alarm went off at a quarter to two in the morning, that was really early! We left at 3.30am. We travelled up through the Lewis Pass and finally got to Totaranui at 11.30am. It was very hot. We found a site near our friends and put up the tent.  We unpacked all our stuff.  It took a  long time. Lots of people helped us. Then we went for a swim, the water was really nice and warm.

The next day my brother and his partner arrived so we helped him unpack.  They went home after a week and then Ruth, Ben, Alice and Gemma arrived for a week.

We cooked in our camp oven which was fun as it was on the fire.  Each day I went for a run along the Abel Tasman walkway.  It is just so beautiful and peaceful. A very special place for me.  We also went out in our little zip zap boat.  I only went when the sea was flat.

We all had a wonderful holiday.  The weather was great. We loved being there with our family and friends.  Next year we will do it all again.
Kia Ora. Welcome to Room 6 and the new learning year. We have got lots of exciting things planned.  We are going to be learning about being an xcellent learner.  This includes how we can motivate ourselves, be resourcesful, be resilient, relate well to others and express our ideas, needs, wants and feelings appropriately. We will be doing this through art, mind maps, talking and learning.

I hope that you have all had a really good holiday. You might like to add something to our blog about what you have been doing.
